Miếng cơm giòn rụm, thơm lừng, đượm cái bùi béo của vừng và tôm nướng hấp dẫn. Có thể chấm kèm tương ớt hay sốt mayonaise nếu bạn thích.
Tép khô đem ngâm nước ấm chừng 30 phút rồi rửa lại cho sạch hết cát bẩn, để ráo. Cho tép vào nồi, thêm ít vừng trắng vào rang trên lửa nhỏ chừng khoảng 5 phút. Lắc chảo qua lại để đảo đều tép và vừng trắng cho đến khi tép khô ráo, vừng trắng cũng dậy mùi thơm.
Cho cơm trắng vào tô trộn lớn, thêm trứng, xíu dầu mè, muối, tiêu, tỏi, rau mùi và ớt bột vào rồi trộn đều. Sau đó cho tôm và vừng vào, trộn đều lại một lần nữa.
Chuẩn bị một khay nướng bánh có lót sẵn một lớp giấy nướng, đổ cơm vào rồi dùng muỗng tán đều và nèn chặt sao cho cơm phủ đều lòng khay nướng. Dùng cọ quết một lớp dầu vừng lên trên mặt cơm.
Rắc rau mùi (hoặc bột rau mùi/rong biển xé) lên trên cùng rồi đổ khay cơm ra. Lúc này cơm đã được định hình theo lòng khuôn nướng. Để nguyên cơm trên giấy nướng, dùng dao cắt cơm thành những miếng vừa ăn.
Đặt cơm vào trong lò đã được làm nóng sẵn tới 190 độ, nướng khoảng 15 phút thì lấy khay ra, rắc ít mè lên trên mặt cơm, đặt khay trở lại lò, tăng nhiệt lên 200 độ và nướng thêm khoảng 5-8 phút nữa.
